How reliable and quiet are modern heat pumps?
Performance in cold weather: Properly installed air-source heat pumps can operate efficiently in temperatures as low as –20 °C. They're widely used in colder climates, such as Norway, with great success.
Noise levels: Modern systems typically produce 40–65 dB of sound—similar to a fridge or gas boiler—and are usually installed outside the home, making them unobtrusive.
What about maintenance and lifespan?
Longevity: Heat pumps generally last around 20 years, which is about double the lifespan of a typical gas boiler.
