How reliable and quiet are modern heat pumps?

  • Performance in cold weather: Properly installed air-source heat pumps can operate efficiently in temperatures as low as –20 °C. They're widely used in colder climates, such as Norway, with great success.

  • Noise levels: Modern systems typically produce 40–65 dB of sound—similar to a fridge or gas boiler—and are usually installed outside the home, making them unobtrusive.

What about maintenance and lifespan?
